Ford Collaborates with Green Media Company SHFT

Because over half of potential American car-buyers  are still confused about the differences between hybrid and electric cars, Ford  has decided to take a gentle approach to explaining the topic. The company recently partnered with SHFT, a "green" media platform developed by film producer Peter Glatzer and actor Adrian Grenier of the television show "Entourage." SHFT aims to show the public how trends in sustainability are shifting and what this means for them as consumers. The groups plan to collaborate for at least the next two years.

A major part of this collaboration is based around Ford funding a series of short documentary pieces explaining suitability and the shifting of America to more sustainable practices (and automobiles). Ford's major motivation in producing the series stems from its interest in selling its new Electronic Ford Focus, which is not only fuel efficient, but is also built using recycled and sustainable materials. The ads will largely be targeted at the Millennial generation.

Both companies are excited about the venture because they believe they share very similar ideas. SHFT is extremely committed to making Ford a part of the global solution for better sustainability. Grenier recently explained the group's philosophy to The Huffington Post, stating, "It really is not about a to-do list: you can only change so many lightbulbs, you can only recycle so much. But for us, it's about taking that next step, and really participating creatively and finding solutions to help really improve your own personal quality of life. And you find that life is better when you care, life is better when you share, life is better when you aren't hurting your neighbors by the things you consume. We find that the products in a sustainable space are better made, they're highly aesthetic and beautiful and they last long and they're the type of things you want to hand down to your kids."1 The new, environmentally-friendly Ford vehicles will certainly fit into this category, as children and grandchildren will enjoy them for years to come.

The electric Focus goes on sale soon in 19 selected markets nationwide, and is eligible for a federal tax rebate. Interested in seeing the EV at Faricy Ford?
