Ford Aims to Save Lives with Global Driving Skills for Life Program

Over the past nine years, Ford has trained over 500 thousand new drivers in its Global Driving Skills for Life Program to safely operate their vehicles in partnership with the Governors Highway Safety Association, and this year will be no different. The North American automaker will continue to save lives through its outreach program.

Part of this Ford program includes school outreach at over thirty high schools in five states. Specially-equipped vehicles are delivered with professional instructors in tow to teach students a full-day of driving safety basics. Four main areas of safety are targeted: driver distraction, hazard recognition, vehicle handling, and speed/space management. Last year alone, Ford reach 35 thousand teen drivers in this way.

Ford also participates in global outreach within this program, with specially-tailored training programs to reflect road conditions and driving environments locally in places such as Taiwan, Thailand, South Africa, China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Drivers of any age (and drivers new to the practice) are encouraged to attend the program. So far, 50 thousand people have participated in Asia and another 12 thousand are expected for the 2012 year.

Ford certainly does care about not only its own drivers- but the safety of all drivers across the world. This same care and concern can be seen in the safety offerings featured on the 2012 Ford models. In fact, feel free to stop by Faricy Ford, located at 2501 Fremont Drive Canon City, CO 81212-2646 and test drive a new, safety-conscious Ford for yourself!
