As for range, the standard 98.0 kWh battery pack achieves up to 230 miles, and the extended 131.0 kWh pack will hit almost 300 miles.

Equipped with the standard-range battery pack, the F-150 is estimated at 426 horsepower. Choose the extended-range version, and that number increases to 563, with max torque output expected to come in at 775 lb-ft for both setups. Maximum towing capacity is 7,770 pounds and 10,000 pounds, respectively, but the standard-range models can haul more payload because of the pack’s lighter weight.

One of the biggest benefits EV owners enjoy is less scheduled maintenance. There are no fluids to top off or change (say goodbye to oil changes forever). You won’t need spark plugs, belts, or air filters either. Ford estimates that maintenance costs will run about 40 percent lower for Lightning owners, compared with owners of gas-powered F-150 owners. That’s a significant reduction in ownership costs. As a new model, the F-150 Lightning may also come with a Federal tax credit, which means a lower purchase price as well.

Connected Everything for Next-Gen Convenience

The 2022 F-150 Lightning contains a robust infotainment system accessible via large touchscreens or the FordPass smartphone app. The in-vehicle system runs on SYNC 4A, the latest version of Ford’s infotainment operating system. It’s capable of receiving over-the-air software updates, so it’s always running on the latest version.

The Lightning can also be equipped with Ford BlueCruise, a hands-free cruise control system that works on connected roads using camera and radar technology. Intelligent Range relies on predictive modeling to anticipate range when towing a boat or ascending a mountain pass.

Tucked away between the frame rails is an advanced lithium-ion battery pack that’s protected by its own skid plate exo-structure that is unobtrusive to both occupants and truck bed cargo.
