Ford Trucks Make Off-Roading Easy

If you are into off-roading and love trucks, then you have to find one that’s trail-ready at the time of purchase. This is not always easy, as many brands don’t have specialized off-road trims or packages. If this is the case, then you have to spend time and money getting your truck outfitted with aftermarket gear; this could cause a problem as some manufacturers will void your warranty if you make certain modifications.
Fortunately, Ford has you covered. If you’re looking at Ford trucks for sale for off-roading, you’ll find several great trims and packages equipped that make your new workhorse a feral beast of beauty. Your Ranger, F-150, Maverick, or Super Duty pickup will be ready for off-road action as soon as you drive off the lot.
At The Faricy Boys Ford, we proudly offer you Ford’s full pickup lineup; this means we can find you the model you want and guarantee that it’s the trim, package, engine, and color you’re after. Let our team show you why your next off-road truck should be a Ford.
The F-150 Raptor
The Raptor is a specialized trim on the Ford F-150 designed to give drivers the ultimate off-road experience. It features your choice of two powerful engines; the base is a 3.5L High-Output EcoBoost V6, which utilizes a turbocharger to deliver a stunning 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. But for those who really want to take things to the limit, you can opt for a 5.2L “Predator” High-Output Supercharged V8, which will give you a jaw-dropping 700 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque, making this one of the most powerful engines available in a consumer vehicle, let alone a gorgeous full-size truck.
Besides being powerful, the F-150 Raptor is fully equipped to handle off-roading. Its standard 4×4 drivetrain features a Hi-Lock transfer case to deliver the right amount of horsepower to each wheel; this is a two-speed automatic four-wheel drive system with neutral towing capability. The Raptor also features an electronic locking rear differential to reduce wheel slippage; this will come in handy when you’re in damp or muddy conditions.
Your coursing of rough terrain will be a breeze in the Raptor’s specialized suspension system, which features FOX shocks. This pickup rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich all-terrain tires; beadlock-capable wheels are available as optional gear. The Raptor also sports durable steel front and rear bumpers, with the rear one designed for high clearance. In addition, a set of heavy-duty skid plates will shield the front and engine, giving you peace of mind as you traverse some rough terrain, and a set of front-mounted tow hooks can help you get out of a tough situation.
Fans of smaller trucks will be excited to hear that Ford will be releasing a new version of the midsize Ranger truck with the Raptor trim. Scheduled for release in 2024, this pickup will feature a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine that delivers best-in-class 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. This Ranger Raptor will feature a set of 2.5-inch FOX Live Valve shocks in its suspension system, helping to ensure its dominance as the apex predator among midsize trucks on the off-road trail.

The F-150 Tremor
If you felt the Earth shaking, it may have been from all of the other truck brands quaking in their boots, thinking about how they’ll compete with the Ford Tremor. This is one of the most advanced off-road trucks available today, with many amazing features that come standard. While the Tremor is a trim on the full-size F-150, you can get it as a package upgrade to the Super Duty, Maverick, and Ranger.
The 2023 F-150 Tremor utilizes a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 gas engine with a ten-speed automatic transmission; this will give you an impressive output of 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, allowing you to carry up to 3,280 lbs in its payload bed, which is best-in-class for full-size trucks. Ford gets such great performance out of this engine by utilizing variable cam timing to provide efficiency and a combination of port fuel and direct injection to boost power.
Just like the Raptor, the Tremor has been given a great deal of standard off-road features. It rides on 18-inch wheels with 33-inch General Graber all-terrain tires, and its suspension is specially designed for off-roading, with Tremor logos on the shocks. There are standard front recovery hooks to help you if you get stuck on the trail; meanwhile, there’s a set of skid plates to cover your Tremor’s fuel tank, transfer case, and front differential. With all this, it’s no wonder the designers at so many other off-road automakers are shaking.
The Tremor Off-Road Package
If you decide to buy a Ford Super Duty, Ranger, or Maverick, you don’t have to worry about being left out of the fun. Each of these trucks is available with the Tremor Off-Road Package. If you buy a Super Duty, you can get this package regardless of whether you choose the 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke Turbo Diesel or the 7.3L OHV V8 gas engine.
Equipping this package starts you with a set of 35-inch all-terrain tires and an off-road-tuned front and rear suspension featuring 1.7-inch twin-tube dampers. Also, you get specialized off-road handling features on your 4×4 drivetrain; this includes Rock Crawl and Trail Control modes, specifically designed for conditions you may encounter on the trail.
Ford also offers the Tremor Off-Road Package on the midsize Ranger and the compact Maverick. If you order a 2023 Ranger with this package, you will get a set of skid plates, tow hooks, FOX shock absorbers on the heavy-duty off-road suspension, and six upfitter switches for accessing each of your truck’s accessories. In addition, just like the Tremor package on the Ford Super Duty truck, you will also get Ford Trail Control and the Terrain Management System. Finally, the Tremor package includes a factory lift to give your Ranger more ground clearance.
The Maverick’s version of the Tremor Off-Road Package is quite similar. You get a set of all-terrain tires, steel skid plates, and an off-road suspension with a one-inch factory lift. In addition, Ford adds a dark appearance to the Maverick’s headlights and taillights, giving this compact truck a more rugged appearance.

The FX4 Off-Road Package
Drivers considering the Ranger and Maverick get another option from Ford. If not the Tremor, they can always choose the FX4 Off-Road Package, which includes similar features and will prepare your truck to take on the trail. The FX4 on the Ranger includes a set of skid plates, a specially tuned off-road suspension, and an electronic-locking rear differential to reduce wheel slippage. Ford completes the package by including its Terrain Management System and Trail Control.
The Maverick has a similar FX4 package, but it adds front tow hooks, Hill Descent Control, all-terrain tires, a heavy-duty radiator, an engine fan, and five selectable drive modes, including Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Sand. The FX4 package is only available on a Maverick configured with all-wheel drive and the 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 gas engine.
